EA participates actively in the areas of Space and Aeronautics through its subsidiary IberEspacio, a limited liability company registered in Spain in 1989. It is equally owned by EA and the French public company SNECMA (Societé Nationale d'Etudes et Construction de Moteurs d'Avion), currently integrated within the SAFRAN group.
IberEspacio develops its engineering and technical support services in the following areas:
- System and equipment engineering
- Modelling and simulation
- Feasibility studies
- Design and structural analysis
- Technical documentation (Technical Publications)
- Flight data analysis and testing
In space programmes, these areas are basically applicable, (for both the flight segment and the ground segment), to the development of propulsion systems for shuttles and platforms, and in aeronautics, to the development and certification of aerostructures.
Since 2005, IberEspacio has complemented its lines of actuation with the development, supply and integration of components and equipment for the Thermal Control System of Satellites and Platforms, particularly Multi-Layer Insulation Blankets, MLI) and dual-phase cooling devices: Heat Pipes and Loop Heat Pipes. For this purpose it also relies on its centre and Head Office in Madrid, with two manufacturing rooms (ISO-7 and ISO-8 classes) in its Torrejón de Ardoz facilities.
