Power system protection and substations

Ever since its establishment as an engineering company, EA has worked extensively in the design and construction of protection systems for high-voltage power lines, substations and power distribution centres for the main utilities in Spain.

With different scopes, we have participated in the definition of the physical layout, in the engineering of electrical, control and protection systems, and in the civil and structural design of more than sixty substations/ switchyards, the majority of which are 400 and 220 kV.

In the area of protection systems, the following are some of the activities we perform :

• Definition of design criteria and philosophy of protection systems for power generation, transmission and distribution
• Protection system adjustment studies
• Renovation and modernisation plans for power line protection systems
• Integration of electrical system protection with control and measurement systems
